French Roast
FRENCH ROAST COFFEE IS A REGIONAL STYLE ROAST (ROASTED TO A DEEP COLOUR THAT IS WELL KNOWN IN FRANCE).
THIS DARK ROAST IS CREATED THROUGH ROASTING THE BEANS UNTIL THEIR INTERNAL TEMPERATURE REACHES 240 DEGREES CELCIUS (THIS GIVES THE OILY SHEEN). THE FRENCH ROAST COMES AT THE POINT OF THE "SECOND CRACK" (A CRACKING NOISE WHEN ROASTED) THE FIRST CRACK HAPPENS WHEN RELEASING STEAM AND THE SECOND WHEN THE BEANS WALLS BREAK DOWN AND OILS ARE RELEASED. MOST COFFEE BEANS ONLY HAVE A SINGLE CRACK!
